Game × Craft, into the realm of contemporary art.
Games and crafts already meet contemporary art, and both are producing a wide range of work.
CÔGEIMU does not set out to bring games closer to contemporary art, nor to bring crafts closer to it.
Games stay games, and crafts stay crafts. We combine the strengths each already has, just as they are.
Games bring a mass appeal that anyone can pick up and enjoy, and interaction that builds an experience in response to what players do. Crafts bring a practicality honed in everyday tools, a texture you can feel with your own hands, and a rarity that comes from making each piece by hand.
CÔGEIMU keeps both the mass appeal of games and the function of crafts. Anyone can play, and feel how good it is to the touch. Keeping those strengths as our footing, we combine the two, shape a new kind of work and step into the realm of contemporary art.
Though they are games, these works are not made to be copied and widely distributed.
As a rule, each is made as a single piece, or in a very small number, to keep it rare.
Finished works will be shown at events and exhibitions, and are also planned for sale through galleries.
